Here’s a neat sneak peek of what we’ve been working on for Palli.



This special edition of the Gnarwhal has, what we are calling, ‘rifle marks’ on the profile. These grooves are only about .001″ deep and were done prior to bead blasting/anodizing so you can barely feel them while you’re doing a grind. We discovered this process by accident and felt that it would add a nice aesthetic to a caribou spinner. What better way to debut the grooves then to use them on the beautiful Puffin themed Gnarwhal we are doing for Palli.

The photo is pre-laser engraving. We’ll be adding some artwork on the inner hub that was done by Palli himself. The run size is 30 pieces and will only be available through our store.

This is Sebastian’s demo freestyle he did at Canada Nationals last weekend in Calgary. So GREAT! Worlds is looking like an amazing year for 1A!

Chuck has really been stepping up this year! Last month his epic video Golden Age and now he clenches 2nd place at Canada Nationals plus drops a great yo-yo demo video! Some may say hes “Up and Coming”, but with the skills he’s been throwing down, we think he’s already arrived!

Krisztian sure doesn’t need them … this is crazy!!

Everyone loves Team Chubby Lovin. Drew, Seth, Abe and Johnbot always make throwing so fun! Drew just made this new video of their Spring Break hang out. It looks like so much fun!

Krisztian clenches his victory at UK Nationals with style and grace. This season he’s been running rampant across Europe cleaning up at contests left and right. His goal was to capture a seed to finals at Worlds, and he’s got that in the bag!

Congrats to Krisztian AND his wife Corli for a 1-2 punch at UK Nats. Krisztain delivered on his goal of the National Title, but hot on his heals was Corli! Has a husband/wife rivalry ever happened in the competitive yo-yo circuit?

Krisztian has been taking Europe by storm this season! Placing high at European Yo-Yo Championships, and beating current Euro-Champ Vashek at the Prague Contest and this weekend in Bratislava. Krisztian is shooting for #1 at UK Nats this coming weekend, which will give him a finals spot at the World Yo-Yo Championships in August.

Also, at UK Nats Krisztian will be throwing the newly release Gnarwhal. Quickly become the top throw for CLYW team and players alike, the Gnarwhal boasts but style and performance into the perfect package. Be sure to pick one up from Krisztian at UK Nats before they are all gone.

Over the weekend there were two contests … MWR in the US and Slovakian Nationals. Team CLYW was out there representing and having a great time!!!

In Slovakia, Krisztian placed 1st in the Open Division beating out 2nd by 16 points!! Congratulations Krisz!!! Soooo proud of you!! You’re on fire this year!! Once we get some photos and videos we’ll post them up. This coming weekend Krisztian will be competing at UK Nationals. Man this is the busy season!!!

At MWR, Alex placed 2nd in 1A and ended up getting the seed for US Nationals!! Alex was using a prototype of his signature throw, the Sasquatch. Here’s his sweet freestyle:



Adam, John-Bot and Abe were also at MWR. John-Bot made 1A finals and came in 14th … and Adam came in 5th in 5A!!! NICE!!! I can’t wait to see your freestyles guys!! You’re always my favourites to watch!!

Last fall I was given a great idea from Mitch at BTNC for a Campfire edition … ‘Campfire Coal’ … here’s how it turned out:



I made 22 and have been sitting on them for quite some time. No stores will be selling any. The only way you’ll be able to get one is if you are at one of the random contests we’ve sponsored or if you’re going to MWR this weekend.

We’ll be selling 10 there. If you’re interested in getting one find either CLYW team member Adam Brewster or Abe Da Gravedigga at the MWR BBQ … or possibly after the contest since they aren’t allowed to be selling them at the mall. Man I wish I was going to this contest … I love Minneapolis, plus Why? and Deerhoof are playing Saturday night.

Sorry this took so long everyone, but we received a large amount of entries to this contest and wanted to make sure that we gave them our full attention to go through them all. 58 in total!!

YOU amazed us!! The concepts and passion you all show in your yoyoing is just so inspiring!! Thank-you so much for taking the time to enter our contest and to step outside of the comfort zone of the standard clip video to show us why you love the types of tricks you do and why you do them.

Well Adam and I picked our favourites … and here they are:

For Show & Tell we have Josh Yee, who took the time to show us Boing-e-boing. We loved the way you put this video together, with the narration and explanation on why it’s your favourite trick. Plus how you added in so many variations. It was just so well done. Great work!!!

For Arts + Crafts we picked Reginald Dias as our winner, with his trick Melancholy. He really showed the evolution of a trick that really meant so much to him. With guidance from some of his friends to the challenges he was faced with in life, Melancholy was born. Such a great trick … I can definitely tell how much you have improved over the last year. Amazing stuff!!

Over the last month, Abe and JohnBot joined the professional pinball circuit. They did a tournament last week and Johnbot ended up walking away with 3rd place!! You guys never seize to amaze me!!
